Using large 4-5 metre mesh dishes for hydrogen line radio astronomy

These mesh dishes are certainly fine for the Hydrogen line and are probably good up to about 3 or 5 GHz. If you want to learn more about the performance of dishes including the effect of mesh size and feeder type I recommend EMEcalc written by the Late Doug McArthur VK3UM. You can download this program here https://www.vk5dj.com/EMECalc-Ver%2011.11%20Install.zip .

There’s more on EME and H line stuff at https://brcg4nns.org/ . There’s an IO group dedicated to EME called Moon-net  that might be of interest too.

All the best
