Variable display of SIDs on SID monitors (Sudden Ionospheric Disturbances)

Interests me how different stations show quite different traces.

Here is mine (Lichfield Radio Observatory www.astronomy.me.uk) from 21/1/2026:

It shows a very impressive SID at about 1pm.

My goto website for comparison – as I think his traces are amazing is SID Monitoring Station (https://sidstation.loudet.org/data-en.xhtml) and here is his trace from 21/1/2026 at same frequency (23.4 kHz):

This shows the same C-class flare leading to a significantly smaller SID – worth saying that his SIDs are usually MUCH more pronounced than mine and his background noise a lot better so I can’t explain this difference. Mind you – I can’t explain most things, so that doesn’t mean much!
