Two successive massive complex SIDs today 1/2/2026, representing a sequence of multiple solar flares arriving at Earth

Just to finish off my posts on sudden ionospheric disturbances, there were two massive complex ones closely following on from each other today, representing a series of solar flares hitting the Earth one after each other, as per trace from Lichfield Radio Observatory (my observatory in UK) below (23.4 kHz). I’ll miss solar maximum, once it passes! (NB As noted in one of my previous posts today my timing is out by an hour on this plot – the line at the end of this plot is the software skipping an hour as it fixes the problem.)

Nice to be able to do great radio astronomy when it is cloudy.
