Yes. The Norsat 9000LDF requires DC power supplied up the coax, so if your SDR or receiver does not provide this, you will need a bias tee (bias-T).
For the 9000LDF (21.2–22.2 GHz input, 20.250 GHz LO), the specifications are:
Supply voltage: +12 to +24 V DC
Current consumption: about 200 mA
Power is fed through the IF coax connector to the LNB.
For your radio astronomy setup with an SDR:
✔ Use a 12 V bias tee capable of supplying at least 250 mA.
✔ Ensure your SDR input is DC blocked if the bias tee doesn’t isolate the DC from the receiver.
✔ The IF output (950–1950 MHz) then goes to your SDR after the bias tee injects the DC.
A simple arrangement is:
Norsat 9000LDF → Bias Tee (12 V in) → SDR
This is the standard way to power these professional Norsat LNBs.
