RTL-SDR Blog V3 dongle is based on the R820T2 tuner chip
The RTL-SDR Blog V3 dongle is based on the R820T2 tuner chip. Its useful bandwidth is limited by the USB 2.0 bus and the RTL2832U demodulator chip.
- Maximum stable sampling rate: ~2.4 MSPS (megasmples per second)
- Usable instantaneous bandwidth: ~2.4 MHz
You can push it a bit higher:
- Up to ~3.2 MSPS is possible, but the data stream often drops samples, so it’s unreliable for serious use.
So in practical terms, the bandwidth of the RTL-SDR V3 is about 2.4 MHz.
