Strangely narrow SID on 26/1/2026 associated with C-class flare:

From Lichfield Radio Observatory (my observatory in UK):

Compare to SID Monitoring Station (https://sidstation.loudet.org/data-en.xhtml) – an excellent source of high quality data which I use to compare my data with:

Shows same flare – also means there is problem with my time stamp on my MiniPC running the UKRAA SID monitor at LRO at time out by about an hour – I’ll have to look into that.

Andy

Response from Andrew Thomas:

There was a C1.8 flare at 12:20 peaking at 12:40 and ending at 12:40. I saw the same short SID, it is surprisingly deep for a C class flare.

  1. Hi, that was short switching off of DHO38 transmitter. See https://ok1dub.cz/vlf/one_day_pattern_2026.php?pocatecni_den_ve_vypisu=25 and https://ok1dub.cz/vlf/plot/vlf_ok1dub_plot_2026_01_26_1300_utc.png and https://ok1dub.cz/vlf/spectrum/vlf_ok1dub_2026_01_26_1300_utc.png

It is very usefull to observe also spectrogram.

  2. FROM Mark Edwards:

    Hi Andrew,

Looks like one of 23.4kHz frequent transmitter dropouts to me as it
    doesn’t show up on any other frequencies I monitor = 21.75kHz, 22.1kHz, 37.5kHz, and 19.6kHz.

    Mark
