Success with detection!
Bits and pieces arrived to make new aerial – and attached are test screenshots from Spectrum Lab – 6 stations seen clearly. This time, for some reason, the plug-in USB audio card is working – do not know what happened last time.
It does look like aerials without an isolating capacitor on one of the wires coming to the computer do not work.
NB I have a 10 uF capacitor on 150m x 22 SWG enamelled copper wire wound around 134cm wide wooden cross. Maximum peaks when cross orientated north-south along cross (i.e. east-west orthogonal to centre of cross).
