How to print Microsoft Word A3 document on A4 printer at A3 size

Yes — you can do that by using “poster” (tiling) printing.
Microsoft Word itself doesn’t directly split a single A3 page into two A4 pages, but you can achieve it in a couple of ways:

Method 1: Use PDF tiling (recommended)

  1. In Word, set your page size to A3.
  2. Print to PDF (choose Microsoft Print to PDF as the printer).
  3. Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader (free).
  4. Go to Print → Poster.
    • Set the Tile Scale to 100%.
    • Overlap = 0 (unless you want some margin for trimming).
  5. Acrobat will print your A3 sheet spread over two A4 pages, which you can tape together.

Method 2: Use your printer driver (if supported)

Some printer drivers have an option like “poster printing,” “tiling,” or “multiple page enlargement.”

  • Go to Print → Printer Properties → Page Layout/Finishing.
  • Look for options such as 2×1 Poster or Tile printing.
  • This will automatically split the A3 page across 2 A4 sheets.

Method 3: Manual split in Word (less convenient)

  1. Keep your page as A3.
  2. Insert a table (1 row × 2 columns) the size of the page.
  3. Copy the left half of your content into one A4 document and the right half into another.
  4. Print both — and align them.

👉 Easiest = Method 1 (Word → PDF → Acrobat → Poster printing).
