Alex Pettit’s advice on how to be meticulous in matching and verifying each feed system on my dual monopole cantenna on LRO-H2(SCRT).

if you Really want to do this you need to be Meticulous in Matching and Verifying Each feed system.

It takes time & effort.

1) You MUST use software that provides Calibrated Data  =  SDR# & IFavg    ( the ezRA  series will Not Work )

2) Verify each feed is equally & properly tuned with the nanoVNA

3) Optimize the location of the dish<>feed by taking real time ampl measurements using SDR# w/ its real time display measure the Earth<>Hline dB values with the cursor  & write them down

      Change the spacing first in 2 cm steps over +- 10cm plot the hand recorded results & go back to the best spacing & try again over +-5 cm at 1 cm steps.

      Plot the hand recorded results & position the Feed There !

4) Verify each system performs Equally by using a 290K simulator with Conductive Foam  ( no Fara Fab will Not work )

You need 4 layers = 4 pcs of this stuff & put directly in front of the feed for performance tests.

Too Many new RA ‘enthusiasts’  believe they can overlook optimizing the hardware &  make it up in software but that is a Bogus assumption
